Huion drawing pad (again)

For students without a touch-screen computer who are still struggling to “write” with a mouse or touchpad, I still recommend the Huion 1060 Plus drawing pad.  It’s at Amazon for about $90, or $80 if you have Prime, or less if Amazon gives you a discount, which they sometimes do.

I had one student damage his pen, so they are not indestructible.  Aside from that, they have worked well so far.  I inquired about a replacement pen.  They are $30.

The reasons I suggest a drawing pad are

a) When we write things ourselves, we remember it more.  This is true for mathematics, spelling, neatness of printing, etc.  For students who rely on a mouse or touchpad, I end up writing it for them.

b) It speeds things up.  When we only have an hour, it’s best to not spend so much time and effort on trying to make mouse-writing legible.  The student spends more time writing and erasing and writing again than should be.

c) The student is typically more engaged.  If they are actually doing something and not just witnessing, they’re typically more participatory.

No, I don’t sell these things.  You can choose any drawing pad whatsoever.  Just something to think about.
